Carmen Irama
At 79, Carmen Irama, a creative dynamo from Venezuela via Trinidad, is set to release her debut single, "Notre Jardin.”
This vibrant track is inspired by the adage credited to French philosopher Voltaire, "We must cultivate our garden," and is being released via Pastiche Records.
Blending Latin party rhythms with poetic lyrics, "Notre Jardin" is a heartfelt love song dedicated to Carmen's three children—Greta, Rosie, and her son Joe. Through the song, she offers them the bounty of her cherished garden, beautifully expressed in the line, "All of the evergreen I give to you."
The track was recorded at the legendary Eastcote Studios in Notting Hill, London —where artists like Adele and Cat Stevens have crafted their hits—with a band featuring some of the UK's finest musicians, Chris Montague – guitar, Joel Barford – drums, Tom Farmer – bass and Sarah Gillespie – backing vocals.
The song was mixed by Grammy award winning George Murphy and mastered by Grammy Award winning Andrew Tulloch.
The single was produced by singer songwriter Sarah Gillespie and her MD Chris Montague, adding their signature touch to this unforgettable debut.
